Join the Critical Planning Staff

The Critical Planning Journal was established in 1993 to serve as a forum for the urban planning community to present current research interests, debate important issues, and share ideas about the field of urban planning. We welcome graduate students of all disciplines to participate in this process. We are always looking for talented people to join our staff, which includes:


Editorial Board

  • Develops journal theme and Call for Papers
  • Attends meetings throughout the year (may Skype in from abroad)
  • Reads submissions and Contributing Reviewers' comments
  • Evaluates and decides which content to include in Critical Planning
  • Guides authors through the revision process
  • Awards the Edward W. Soja Prize

Contributing Reviewers

  • Read and evaluate submissions

Contributing Editors

  • Proofread accepted articles
  • Guide authors through the revision process

Contributing Designers

  • Lay out accepted submissions into publishable format (Adobe InDesign)
